Bike Seats for Kids

Bike seats for kids are a great way to take your child cycling and slowly develop them into loving the hobby. The best time to do it is when they are very young. We all know that at this age they cannot go cycling on their own but with a bicycle child carrier this can be easily accomplished. Three of the most common ways to take your kid on a bicycle ride are through bike trailers, mounted child seats, and tagalongs.

Mounted Child Carriers

There are three ways to install these types of bike seats for kids. One way is behind the handlebars, another is on the bike tube, and the other right behind you on the back part of the bike frame. For safety precautions any child that is a year old or less should not ride in these types of child bike carriers.

The reason for this is because is because a 1 year old cannot handle the weight of a bike helmet. Before you buy a bike carrier seat it is best to test ride it with some weight. Testing it will ensure that you know how the weight and balance of the bike will handle once you ride it.

Bike Trailers

Bicycle trailers are great because they will allow you to have more space for your child. They also allow you kid to ride closer to the ground so they will not get hurt incase you fall during a bike ride. Bike trailers are convenient because you can easily attach and detach them to the bike frame incase you ever want to go on a ride alone.

Tagalongs

Tagalongs are a great way to allow you child to get in some exercise. Therefore it is recommended that this method of cycling only be used for older children that can hold their own weight. It is very similar to a bike trailer in the way that it attaches to your bike, however, the look and feel of it are very much like a bicycle. When using tagalongs you will need to be careful as you might take down your child with you incase of a tumble. These bike seats for kids are great when used with caution.
